The studio · Est. 2012
We are architects, interior designers, joiners and project managers under one roof on Torstraße — a studio that would rather do six rooms beautifully than sixty rooms adequately.
Our story
Atelier Linnea began in 2012 with a single commission: a 38 m² flat in Neukölln, a budget of €9,000, and a client who trusted us with her only home.
We built that flat with our own hands — the shelving, the bench, the bed — and learned the lesson that still shapes the studio: a detail you make yourself is a detail you cannot ignore. Today we run a joinery workshop in Wedding with four carpenters, and a design team of eight, but the founding habit survives. Someone from the studio is on site every week of every build.
Over the years the work has grown from single rooms to penthouses, hotels, restaurants and offices in Berlin, Copenhagen, Vienna and Zurich. The commissions changed; the way we work did not. We still start every project the same way — by listening longer than feels comfortable.
We are not a big studio and we intend to stay that way. A handful of new projects a year, clients who become friends, and rooms that are still working beautifully decades after we hand over the keys.
What we believe
Every project begins with weeks of conversation and observation. A plan drawn too early is a plan drawn wrong.
Oak that darkens, plaster that breathes, brass that patinas. We choose materials that gain character, not lose it.
We would rather perfect the joint of a door than chase a trend. If a detail doesn't work after ten years, it doesn't work.
A fixed price is a design tool. We pin costs at design development and treat the number as a boundary to design inside, not around.
Milestones
2012
Linnea Hartmann designs her first interior with her own hands. Atelier Linnea is born in a shared flat with two desks and one laptop.
2015
Villa Odessa, a 22-room guesthouse in Friedrichshain, opens to a full house and a feature in AD Deutschland.
2017
Four carpenters join us in a Wedding workshop. Custom kitchens and furniture become a core discipline, not a subcontract.
2019
First international commission: a townhouse in Copenhagen. The dune house on Sylt follows two years later.
2022
We move into the current studio — a former textile atelier with 4.2 m ceilings — and never leave.
2025
Hotel Ostlicht wins the award for Interior Architecture. The 140th project is handed over in the same year.
The team
Small by choice: every project is led by a partner and touched by the whole studio at review.

Senior Interior Architect
An obsessive about joinery details, staircases and proportions. Joined in 2014 and has drawn every stair we have built since.
Project Lead
Keeps 140+ projects on time and on budget, and speaks fluent Bauleiter. Clients often mention her calm in their reviews.
Head of 3D & Visualisation
Turns sketches into rooms you can walk through before a wall is built. His renders have closed more than one deal.
